An observation one can make today is that a growing number of DJs now seem to use tracks from the early 90s especially the ones that were associated with classic dance and trance sounds and from groups who built a reputation for exceptional dance tracks. Some of this stuff still sounds really good – with a few slight modificatons to soften up the edges.

A great example is the ubiquitous Technotronic

Ever wonder what happened to all those 90’s singers with those chart-toppers that you never heard of again. There is really no way to tell where all these people are due to an abundance of rumors on the internet. Leila K is rumored to be homeless in Stockholm. The same with almost any one else one can think of – all of these people did some great things in the 90’s and then disappeared.

Here’s a track by Leila K called ‘Open Sesame’ and a Remix of the same song by Daisy Dee.

Leila K – Open Sesame
You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Daisy Dee – Open Sesame
You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Some more Extinct Music Producers

Maxx – No More
You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

The cool/or uncool thing about Maxx was that he had this catchy beat and ‘lead tune’ that essentially was used over and over in different ways in all his best tracks.

Mr. President – Coco Jambo
You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

“When the sun is cold and black
When you wanna scream and shout
And the record plays the dark side of the moon”

These are some of the lyrics of “Dark Side of the Moon by Ernesto Vs. Bastian that I was just listening to. This track is a part of the Canadian Culture – Set 1 mix by DJ Kristoff.

I tend to listen to a lot of music and most of it consists of the electronic genre in the form of DJ Sets. What absolutely amazes me is the depth and breadth of international talent that the internet makes readily available to you. The advantage of a DJ Set is that for a couple of hours you get a hand picked medley of mixed tracks that seamlessly merge into one another. The result for me is, I can actually focus better and longer. I am sure this music induced trip-hop is probably the best focus medicine out there for many.

Check out these really talented DJs:

DJ Andy Gregory
http://www.andyg.me.uk

DJ Kristoff

DJ Medieval
http://www.djmedieval.com

Want to make your own mix set? Head on over to AudioJelly.com and listen to a huge selection of singles. Also checkout ShoutCast.com for a broad range of internet radio stations.
